Get to Know the Artist
Luis A. Finston, or better known by his stage name, "Cykloid" has been a DJ & Producer for more then a decade.
Hailing from Panama City, Panama, he was adopted at the age of 3 & relocated to the U.S. where he spent most of his childhood in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Introduced to music at the age of 4, he went on to play violin, piano, tenor saxophone, percussion, bassoon, guitar & bass guitar. An enthusiast of the metal & rock genre, he was also a vocalist / screamer for a metal band in high school.
He attended New Mexico's renown summer music program "Hummingbird Music" in Jemez Springs as a teenager & in 2011 flew to Valencia, Spain to participate with the Berklee College of Music.
He began DJ'ing his senior year of high school doing house parties & came under the influence of DJ Espy who was both a friend & mentor for several months. He became known as Cykloid in 2013.
Advancing rapidly in his hometown, he was a resident DJ at several local venues such as Graham Central Station, Azul Ultra Lounge, Lava Rock Lounge, Hurricane Alley, Dublin's Street Pub, Halo's Ultra Lounge, 10 Pin Alley, DeLaVegas, RAD Retrocade, Amador LIVE, 575, Jax Rooftop Bar, Blitz Sports Bar & Little Toad Creek.
An active member of several student organizations & student media while attending New Mexico State University, he featured as a radio DJ for KRUX 91.5 FM hosting his show "Cykloid Sounds" while balancing being a tailgate & athletics DJ for NMSU.
He was a member of Kappa Sigma (ΚΣ) fraternity, gaining attention as a Greek Life DJ partnering with Pollen Co. & Red Bull & performed at several popular Spring Break locations including Puerto Penasco / Rocky Point, Rosarito, Cabo San Lucas, Lake Havasu & South Padre Island.
He took an interest in producing & in particular the Electronic / EDM scene after spending 2 years in Brooklyn, NY where he was exposed to the NYC underground music scene while playing soccer for CUNY Brooklyn College.
Returning home to New Mexico in 2015, he began working with the EDM community in El Paso, TX, spreading his influence to Texas & Arizona; opening for artists such as TYGA, Mustard, A-Trak, Dirty Audio, G-Eazy, Red Cup Nation, R3ll, Shanti, Charlotte Fehler, Pineo & Loeb, Johnny Kage, DLMT, Deetron, RayBurger, Morgan Page, Borgore, Borgeous, Tony Tone, Jason Craig & Hoodie Allen.
Cykloid has done work as a partner, promoter & opening artist with ArmadaMusic, Neon Desert Music Festival, Sun City Music Festival, Relentless Beats, SMG Events, Wa$ted, Ascension Collective, NMSU & MadHouse.
He has also been a guest artist for sports teams including New Mexico United, El Paso Locomotive FC, the El Paso Chihuahuas and is currently an "In-House" DJ for USL Soccer team Charleston Battery in Charleston, South Carolina.
In summer 2021, he joined the United States Coast Guard, and became an Operations Specialist (OS).
Cykloid along with fellow DJ & close friend, Ryan Mako formed the EDM duo "Brocade" in spring of 2022.
He continues to perform in New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, Nevada, Colorado, California, South Carolina, Florida and Mexico.
On the side he is still an avid soccer player & strong supporter of pizza rolls.
